Malaysian BlackBerry accessories reseller
Sorry for the delay but it has been a hectic several weeks for me here but I believe it's worth it.My company, Soleen Strategies Sdn Bhd has been appointed a reseller of original BlackBerry accessories for Malaysia recently. This means, original accessories will be available for Malaysian BlackBerry users locally at reasonable prices. I'm tying down some loose ends, sorting out distribution and retail channels for West Malaysia and East Malaysia and hopefully, accessories for the BlackBerry will be available from various retail outlets within a month or two! I want it out as fast as possible, but I have to make sure it's done properly so bear with me folks!
Curious what types of accessories are available? Go to www.shopblackberry.com which is the official RIM website for accessories and pretty much everything you see there is available once I am up and running. What it doesn't show there are the accessories for the Bold, which I will also be bringing in as well! Cool init!?
Good things come to those who wait... won't keep you waiting much longer. Promise!

Hi there
It seems like u know alot about this lil gadget.
I have a slight problem that Maxis customer service can't help me and I hope you can help me out since you've been switching between the 2 providers. :)
To start of, I purchased my Curve abroad and now I'm subscribing to Maxis BIS.
All is fine, my emails come in and I can surf the net. However, I still can't receive or send out MMS.
It must be my phone settings, as the service has already been activated.
I'm not sure what to do. Hope you can help me.
Thank you.
Hi Farah,
I have to ask even though you've probably done it; have you sent the service books to your BlackBerry?
Under Options->Advanced Options->Service Books
you should have something that reads something like
"Maxis MMS Service [WAP]"
To be honest, I haven't sent at MMS in ages! I've managed to convince most of the people I communicate with to switch to the BlackBerry...
Let me know if you have already sent your service books then we can go through the process of elimination step by step
Also.. where did you buy your Curve? Which model 83xx? And what network was it originally planned for?
Baha
Hi Baha
Thank you for your prompt reply :)
Yes, I have sent the service books to my BB. Btw, I'm currently using the 8310 under AT&T. (It's d one in red).
The "Maxis MMS Service [WAP]" is there. When i click on it to view the service record, it's active, however, some details are still blank i.e. DSID, gateway IP.
I'm far from being a crackberry queen, hope you can guide me step by step.
Farah
Ok well on my Maxis BIS Pearl 8110 DSID is also empty but the gateway IP is full but because it's a long string it actually shows beneath on a new line...
You're not experiencing any problems sending and receiving emails are you?
It is no consolation to you I know, but I tried it on my Celcom BES 8310 and MMS works fine... lets see if we can figure out what's going on in your particular case
Oh no wait. It was because I was on GSM coverage. Now, I'm on EDGE and there is a Gateway IP for it.. and yes, it's a long string.
I am able to send and receive emails. I only can't send and receive MMS and it's frustrating.
Sorry about the tardiness of the reply; was at a dinner.
I'm presently in KL and I tried sending MMS from and to my Maxis BIS Pearl all with no success. Even sending to myself wouldn't send. I tried sending with my Celcom BES curve and it was sent but never received.
I MMS'd a Maxis user in Kuching from my celcom BES Curve and they received it and they sent me a MMS and I received it! They were supposed to have sent one to my Maxis BIS too but I never received that one...
It seems suspiciously like a network configuration problem that is effecting central region only...
Well, if you managed to find a solution to this problem, do keep me informed.
Thanks.
hi Baha,
I am a BB newbie, got a 2nd hand one (7290) for RM330 a few weeks back, just to see whether we r soulmates before committing to a heavy duty ones (:P).
I am using Celcom, receiving emails but have no idea how to send sms. it's driving me nuts because no one that i know is a BB convert (let alone a Crackberry!). so im still depending on another hp to send sms & frankly my frenz & family r getting tired of me switching numbers!!
Please help, da previous owner is sooo over BB that she barely remembers how to advise me..

BAITY
Farah,
If you could see if any of your friends on Maxis BIS has the same problem if they are in the same area or different areas with you then we can narrow down the possibilities...
I will keep on trying to figure it out
Baha
Baity,
I've never used a 7290 but, did you try to access the messages application, then click the menu button and select send sms?
If you're sending and receiving emails then it should be already set up with all the service books already been received..
Baha
Farah,
I forgot to ask but exactly what happens when you try to send a mms? Do you see a red "x" or does it just hang with the clock icon?
Baha
Answering your question, when I try to send MMS (I even tried sending a few to myself) a red 'X' appears and the error message is "Failed to send message"
Farah
Hi Farah,
Still can't get my Maxis Pearl 2 to send. I don't get a red "x" but rather the "clock" waiting sign. It's odd because I asked two other Maxis users to send to my deviceand I received them both without any problem s!
I have searched the online forums and there seems to be a prevailing opinion that BlackBerrys and MMS have been a "hit or miss" issue, some times it works, some times it doesn't. some times it can be solved and some times it can't.
You could switch to Celcom as I know for sure that works! I will keep on seeing if I can help alleviate your problem...
Baha
Baha
Thank you so much.
I was thinking of dropping by one of the Maxis centres some time soon. But I'm a lil skeptical that they will be able to help me out. I don't want to be disappointed by them, again.
Switching to Celcom is actually an option, since I carry both numbers. But Maxis is my main line and sometimes I just leave my Celcom behind.
Please keep me updated if u find something out about the MMS.
Thanks again. I appreciate it alot.
Farah
Hi,
I've been your loyal blog visitor since I discover this blog early this year. That was the first time I owned my first BlackBerry Pearl. Since day 1 I will dig whatever I can with my pearl, learning new shortcuts, upgrade/ downgrade OS, testing all new features.
For Farah question, I had this problem also. What I discovered was, you need to downgrade your 3G service to GPRS (I know current BlackBerry have no 3G features) but that's what I did to solve the MMS problem.
But after a while, I upgraded back to 3G because I can't thetered my Pearl as a modem for my iBook.
Weird...but that's the solution... even Maxis personnel can't give me a good answer...
Dee
Good input Dee! That very well could be the answer Farah was looking for!
Maxis is weird like that; if you had 3G activated beforehand and you switch to a non-3G BlackBerry, data services will not work until you deactivate 3G by inputing the *136*4# (I think thats the one) and hit "send". If you put your SIM back into a 3G phone you have to re-activate your 3G services by inputing *136# and hit "send".
Celcom doesn't require you to take that step. I can readily switch my SIM card from 3G to non-3G and back again without any short code required

BLackBerry Accessories are carried at PDAKing.com a one stop shop for Blackberry Accessories
